Obama Stimulates Militia Economy

The militia movement has no single national leader and it contains wildly divergent strains of thought...the vast majority seem to be "constitutional" militias, fans of low taxes and small government -- values similar to those of many conservatives and the Tea Party movement.

They also see the possession of firearms as not only a right protected by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution but a patriotic duty, a symbol of the citizen's equal standing with the government.

At the heart of the movement is a fierce allegiance to the U.S. Constitution and a belief that its rights and freedoms are threatened by the government. _Reuters_via_ImpactLab
Although the left-wing ideologues in the Obama - Pelosi regime try to paint everyone who disagrees with them as a violent neo-nazi extremist, almost all of the militia movements of the 2010s are motivated by respect for the US Constitution, and a concern that the US government is growing so large and powerful that it no longer respects the constitutional rights of its citizens.
Today, militia members and experts say a number of factors are driving the new surge:

* The 9/11 attacks, which revived the notion that citizens should defend the United States against threats.

* The 2001 Patriot Act, passed in the wake of 9/11, which stirred fears that the government would use enhanced powers against ordinary citizens.

* Anger at government failure to stop mass illegal immigration from Latin America.

* The recent recession, the worst since the 1930s.

* The election in 2008 of President Barack Obama. Many see Obama as a Socialist bent on growing government, raising taxes and confiscating guns; his status as the country’s first African American president exacerbated fears about him, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

* Healthcare reform, seen as exemplifying oppressive government power and intrusion — the contemporary version of a 1994 ban on assault weapons that enraged the right wing.

The extent to which healthcare reform is galvanizing the militia movement cannot be overstated. In more than a dozen conversations with militia members in recent weeks, the topic came up over and over again without prompting. _ImpactLab
The secretive and unconstitutional manner by which the Obama - Pelosi regime foisted its destructive healthcare policies upon the nation should concern anyone who cares about sustainable self-government based upon the rule of law. But you will never learn about that from the media, so most of the herd is content to munch a little more grass, moo a bit, then piss blissfully in the pasture.

Not everyone appears to be taking the Obama - Pelosi debt orgy with such equanimity and calm. It is likely that the most dangerous opposition to the radical turn of Obama - Pelosi will come from within the government itself -- or from recent retirees. Although many government employees are union members, and thus care more about cradle to grave security and taxpayer paid benefits than about the constitution, there are other well trained government employees who do care about the way in which the US government treats its foundational document.

The various oppositional movements -- some armed and some unarmed -- are only likely to grow larger and more determined, the longer the O - P reich remains in power. Thanks to O-P acceleration of the US federal debt, US government debt will be close to 90% of US GDP very close to the time Obama leaves office -- assuming he wins a second term. Even if Obama and his minions are defeated in the next few elections, it will take decades to undo the fiscal damage his administration has done.

That will make a lot of hard work for the rest of us -- those of us less inclined to demonstrate or train with weapons out in the woods. Those of us who will have to make the gerry-rigged system work until new technologies make many of today's frantic questions moot.

Just to make it known, the SPLC has been a pariah for decades--the only people who take them seriously are the people who want to hear what they say. No one who tries to be objective would use them as a source, their sole purpose is to spout the racist lines so the gov can point to them as a source.

Very few articles bashing the militia and tea party movements use non-partisan sources, or even make a vaible representation of the opposite side.

The article was interesting in pointing out that the Tea Party has no real connection with any militia movements, but it claims that the Oath Keepers have some parallel values with the milder militias.

It was interesting to read that some of the militias are apparently training to form the nucleus of community competence should something extreme happen such as a calamitous failure of electrical power etc. or a large scale natural disaster.

That expertise would seem to be a useful asset to most communities.

There was also a broad based militia movement in the early Clinton years that coincided with the Republican takeover of Congress. The 1990's militia movement fizzled around the same time that Newt Gingrich deliberately misled the Republican majority into failure.

That and Clinton was able to use a domestic terror attack by Tim McVeigh to demonize the whole militia movement. "Democrats" commit domestic terror attacks all of the time, and admitted bombers like Bill Ayers get to play prominent roles in the upper levels of the Democratic Party.

The World is truly mad.
