In Europe, freedom of speech does not receive the strong support and respect that it receives in the United States. Dutch Member of Parliament Geert Wilders is on trial for expressing the view that the Netherlands is under threat from radicalised Islamic immigrants -- such as the one who murdered filmmaker Theo Van Gogh, and others who have threatened the lives of Somalian immigrant Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Wilders himself.

In reality it is the whole of Europe that is under threat from Islamic immigrants -- not just the Netherlands. Europe is committing suicide by refusing to defend itself against the onslaught of highly fertile, impoverished and welfare-prone, untrainable, unassimilable immigrants from tribal Islam. And Wilders is being prosecuted for attempting to defend his home country from falling under the control of a fanatical and violent religion hitching a ride on the backs of tribal third world immigrants.

Canada has attempted similar prosecutions against writers and intellectuals, with mixed success. But Europe is truly a land of political correctness gone mad. If the Netherlands convicts Wilders on the charges, it will be the death knell of freedom on the European subcontinent.
