If all else fails, the relief wells should provide the means to shut off the seafloor oil gusher well before the spill achieves top 10 status. Of course, unless the nearer-term attempts to slow down or shut off the oil flow are successful, there will still be one hell of a mess to clean up.

Best to focus on what needs to be done, and on what must be done to prevent similar disasters in the future. The finger-pointing and blame game is a luxury best reserved for politicians, lawyers, political activists, academics, faux-environmentalists, and other pseudo-intellectual layabouts.
