Eyeing the Charts
The first chart compares temperature projections over the rest of this century to actual observed temperatures. We are watching to see if any persistent divergences develop.
The second chart looks at year by year (monthly) temperature anomalies over the time period of 1998 to 2007. We are basically looking for trends of warming, cooling, or neither.
This chart examines temperature (monthly) anomalies over the time period of 1979 to 2007. Remember that back in 1979, Stephen Schneider and Newsweek were concerned about "catastrophic global cooling". Here, we can appreciate the rather lazy way Earth's temperatures rise and fall.
