Carnival of Space 15
Space Carnival #15 is up at Star Stryder. It includes links to some very good space related article.
Hat tip Brian Wang at Advanced Nanotechnology.
Centauri Dreams has an optimistic article reporting on a study looking at defending Earth from collision with asteroids and comets. It seems that given enough warning (2 to 5 years depending on the approach) it is quite possible to nudge an intruder out of a collision orbit--providing the necessary interceptor infrastructure needed to intercept and divert the asteroid/comet is in orbit and ready to fly. This is a far more optimistic conclusion than we most commonly see on "popular science" documentaries and articles.
