CEOs Without Degrees
The idea that a person must graduate from college before he can make something of himself is a fairly recent idea -- and a crock of excrement. University educations are taking a bigger bite of a family's budget, and offering less and less in return. The faculty and staff at too many universities have decided that it is their job to shape you and your children in their own image, while charging you an arm and a leg to do it.
Most university degrees are worth less than the paper on which the diploma is Kinko'd. It may be time to consider the alternatives to the expensive indoctrination camps they call "universities."

I still don't do well by myself. having someone walk me through it a couple of times works best for me, so I need an interactive teacher, rather than a video. Videos are nice, but a lot of people will still need someone to hold their hands.
You seem to be talking about some type of apprenticeship system, rather than the huge mega university-industrial complex we have now, Loren.
Most meaningful learning takes place via a quasi-apprenticeship.
Out of the millions of methods of teaching, videos are only one. A more expansive view of education is badly needed.
A commenter on one of my former favorite sites claimed that higher ed was the next bubble to burst.
I have often wondered If person A attends college and person B were to invest the same amount of money person A invested in college in starting a business (say an HVAC company). Would person A feel stupid while living (almost broke)in the Baltimore area while his brother (person B) is a millionaire living in Hawaii?
